Ballycastle Shared Education Campus (BSEC)

Heron Bros Ltd (HBL) have been appointed by the EANI to develop and construct Samuel Stevenson’s planning-stage design for a new £50M, 1180-pupil shared education campus in Ballycastle. Funded primarily through Fresh Start funding for Shared and Integrated Education, BSEC will provide new accommodation for Ballycastle High School and Cross & Passion College. Albert Fry Associates are proud to be core members of HBL’s IST providing civil and structural engineering consultancy services.

The project includes full site development works, demolition and decanting to provide:

  • a core educational building (the Campus Building)
  • comprehensive carparking and bus drop-off
  • a sports building (incorporating an EA Youth Club and indoor climbing facility and a 6-changing room Sports’ Pavilion)
  • a full size synthetic floodlit hockey pitch
  • a full size floodlit synthetic GAA pitch and spectator stand
  • a full size floodlit synthetic soccer pitch
  • 4 multi-use games courts and sports’ wall and a multi-use games court
  • an EA Maintenance Store Building and associated parking

The phased construction, due to commence at site in February 2024, is designed to allow both schools to remain in operation in their existing facilities until the new Campus Building is constructed.
