M1 Footbridge

Albert Fry Associates provided civil engineering consultancy services for the provision of a footbridge over the M1 motorway between Belfast and Dublin.

The bridge is a 60m long pedestrian / cycle bridge over motorway (twin 10m back spans and 40m clear central span). Steel, braced, lattice girder structure spanning from abutments onto intermediate piers.

Works included the design of steelwork including bridge bearings, loading schedule and approval under National Roads Agency technical approval procedures.
