Riddel Hall now accommodates a new centre for excellence for graduate and post-graduate management education. The scheme includes the conservation and adaptation of the grade B listed Riddel Hall, an early 19th century former student residential building, and construction of a new building academic office, conference centre and lecture halls. The scheme is located within a conservation area which together with the historic nature of Riddel Hall required sensitive design and implementation.
Conservation works included surveying to establish location of corroding embedded steelwork, by means of metal detection equipment landscape inspection, surface displacement measures and crack pattern assessment.
Critical elements were carefully exposed and remaining metal repaired and protected with high performance glass reinforced epoxy coatings.
