QUB Boat House

This scheme comprised the extension and refurbishment of the existing QUB Boat Clubhouse on the River Lagan and the installation of  a floating pontoon.  The Boat Clubhouse also benefited from an extensive upgrade including new shower areas, new crew meeting rooms and a new motor boat launching slip.

The boathouse extension was clad in perforated galvanized steel sheeting with exposed timber slats to promote drying of stored boats. A steel frame on mini-piles was required to address poor ground conditions along the river bank.

The new pontoons, mooring piles, temporary sheet piled cofferdam and reinforced concrete slipway were installed within the strict environment protection conditions of a Marine Construction Licence agreed with DOE.

Albert Fry Associates provided Civil & Structural Engineering services on the project from inception to completion of the works in October 2015.
