This scheme accommodates a Premier Travel Inn hotel, developed within and around a grade 2 listed building at the historic Four Corners site in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, an area that had been derelict for many years.
The building consists of 172 bedroom hotel with reception facilities including a 200 seat bar and restaurant, conference facility, meeting suites and ancillary accommodation. Underground car parking is provided within a new basement area.
The facade of the severely fire-damaged listed building was supported by a piled facade retention structure and a bored-piled retaining wall facilitated basement excavation with no impact on surrounding buildings.
Repairs, replacement and consolidation of historic decorative render and stonework were undertaken to conserve the original facade.
Albert Fry Associates provided full civil and structural engineering services on the project.
