Albert Fry Associates are pleased to have provided full civil consultancy services in the re-development of Strabane Academy, a controlled grammar school which provides for an enrolment of 700 pupils. The new building and site adopts a stepped level approach to follow the natural, challenging contours of the site without dominating it. This included the provision of plateaus to accommodate the impressive sports facilities on site. Synthetic surfaces have been provided for the tennis courts and hockey pitch. The track and field facilities, Rugby pitches and Cricket pitch are natural surfaces. A full drainage design was completed in accordance with SUDs principles with attenuation being provided through granular storage. Albert Fry Associates liaised with NI Water in the provision of a storm sewer requisition sewer for the scheme.
