The parish of Killybegs has existed since medieval times in common with many parishes in the ancient See of Raphoe. Albert Fry Associates provided structural consultancy services in relation to the refurbishment, conservation, extension and re-ordering of the church premises.
The general refurbishment provides an elegant and uplifting setting for worship and prayer. As a result, parishioners and guests can enjoy the interior space with it’s warm, serene and spiritual atmosphere which is in turn complimented by a beautiful surrounding external environment.
From a structural perspective, we overcame the challenge of perching a new slated steel framed spire upon existing masonry square tower. Similarly, we created a dominant arched opening in the gable wall which in turn allowed for the creation of an extended apse beyond.
